Martyrdom
I'm actually sorry that the Ft. Hood killer was given the death penalty. That's giving him exactly what he wants. He is now a martyr - or at least he will be when they actually execute him.
I would have much preferred life without the possibility of parole - with lots of solitary confinement - to stop him from using us as his voice.
If you watched any part of the trial - or read summaries in the newspapers, you know that he sat their smuggly enjoying the show and his opportunity to become a martyr.
I've been told that these extremists believe that death will give them many virgins in heaven (or whereever they go).
so, isn't life in prison worse than death for this guy?
